Asperger's Symptoms in Adults: Diagnosis, Treatment, and More

Many adults learn to hide their symptoms to the extent that they may appear neurologically typical. This can cause the person to react inappropriately or have emotional outbursts. People may also have difficulty understanding the emotional experiences of others. This can make nonverbal communication even more challenging. They may also show differences in language production. Specifically, they may produce repetitive speech or robotic speech that lacks inflection.

All autistic people share certain difficulties, but being autistic will affect them in different ways. People with Asperger syndrome see, hear and feel the world differently to other people.

They may speak in a very monotone or rhythmic manner, with a loud voice.
